Love is in the air... but ideas may not be. Metro Detroit, we have you covered!

Valentine's Day is only a few days away (How is this possible?), but we have plenty of great ideas of what you can do, where you can go, and what you can buy to make this holiday-of-love one for the books!

Places to Eat

Pro Tip: A great date always starts or ends with food. Below are a few fun & unique places that you can take that special someone for a bite to eat.

The HighlandsThis restaurant is "the tops." Literally! Located on the 71st floor of the Renaissance Center in Detroit, you will receive the best food & the best view of the city — day or night. The Highlands is known to be a twist on the traditional steakhouse, but with an exceptional collection of wines and spirits. Count us in!

The Whitney - Located right on Woodward in Detroit, stands this iconic landmark, full of history, glamour, and exquisite food. The Whitney is an upscale dining experience that will be talked about for years to come. Plus, if you want something a little more unique than a four course meal, they also offer a wide variety of experiences that might strike your interest.

Vinsetta Garage - Unique. Delicious. Fun. What else can you ask for? Vinsetta Garage, located on Woodward Ave in Berkley, is the oldest garage East of the Mississippi, but it doesn't service cars anymore. Instead, the owners transformed this building into a service station for your stomach. So if you are looking for a place that's a little more down-to-earth and serves high-quality comfort foods, look no further!

Places to Shop for Gifts

Cliche or not, chocolate & flowers are liked by most people. We would tend to agree that either of those things are a great sign of love and affection on such a monumental holiday. However, if you are looking to change it up, or put a twist on a classic, here are a few places you might want to look into for the perfect gift.

Bon Bon Bon Detroit - Yes, this is chocolate related, but it's different! These sweet treats, made with a French technique, bring something new to the table. Made with more local ingredients than anything, these Bonbons are to die for. The best part is that each chocolatey treat has unique flavor, some that are familiar and others that are more unusual. There is something for everyone and will make you change your mind about chocolate being "overrated" this holiday.

Essbe- Looking for an experience & a gift in one? We have just the thing! Why not get matching permanent bracelets? What a sweet reminder that you and your significant other are more than just a phase, but a love that will be cherished forever. Located at a permanent store front (pun not intended) in Royal Oak, Essbe is just the place to get yours done. Simply make an appointment online & we will walk you through the rest! If getting permanent jewelry seems like a bit too much commitment, there are plenty of non-permanent options as well. No matter what you choose, you won't regret it!

Places for Activities/Drinks

To complete the perfect Valentine's Day date, do something fun; whether that be going out for drinks, dancing, or even going to a movie, activities are essential to quality time and bonding. Below are a few ideas/places that Metro Detroit has to offer.

Valentine Distilling Co. - With a name like that, how could you not visit this place for Valentine's Day? This distillery cocktail lounge is a great place to grab drinks and chat. If you enjoy a good cocktail or some locally made whiskey, you may want to check this place out.

Evening Bar - Located downtown Detroit, within the stunning Shinola hotel, lies this "intimate enclave" bar. With classic drinks and cozy decor, you will be here for hours, talking the night away on your romantic evening together.

Universal Nonstop - Fun is the nature of this place! Though many of the places we mentioned are classy & upscale, we wanted to include another option that was a little more unique. Pick between arcade games, bowling, laser tag, and the list goes on. Take your loved one here for a Valentine's neither of you will forget.

No matter what you do, give, or eat, make sure you do it wholeheartedly; this holiday is about love after all!
