When I think back to 2017, I remember waking up in the middle of the night with this strange, insistent thought: “I should try making bracelets.” It made no sense at the time. I wasn’t a jewelry designer. I didn’t have a plan or a business degree. But the next day, I went to the craft store, bought some beads and elastic, and sat at my dining room table stringing my first bracelet. I didn’t know it then, but that tiny spark would completely change my life.
What started as a little creative outlet turned into a late-night obsession—testing designs, trying new materials, wondering if I could make something people would actually want to wear. When I launched my first website (back then called “with love, sar”), I was just hoping that maybe one stranger would find my site and buy a bracelet. When that first order came through, it was just the beginning of what was to come.
The years since then have been full of milestones that honestly still blow my mind. From working out of my spare bedroom, to signing the lease on my very first office space. From rebranding to Essbe (a name built from my own initials, S.B.), to welding our first permanent bracelet for a customer. Having two beautiful storefronts in Royal Oak and Rochester where we get to meet you face to face. Closing the Royal Oak store due to outgrowing it. None of this feels real. But it is real. And it’s all because of you.
What’s made this journey so special is that it’s never been just about jewelry. It’s about how the right piece can make you feel—confident, put together, maybe even a little unstoppable. It’s about creating pieces that feel effortless but meaningful. Every chain, every charm, every bracelet stack we design is made to help you feel like your best self—whether you’re throwing on a tee or heading to something big.
This brand, this business, this dream has grown because of the incredible community that has supported it. From the early days of Instagram DMs and packing orders in my spare bedroom to now having a team of amazing women who help bring this vision to life every day—none of it would’ve happened without your trust, your excitement, and your kindness.
As we celebrate eight years of Essbe, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for every order, every tag, every visit, every word of encouragement. You’ve allowed me to build something far bigger than I ever imagined in that 3 AM moment.
